Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)

Topic: Question of Taiwan and disarmament in the South China Sea.

About:

The Disarmament and International Security Committee is the first of the six specialized committees of the United Nations General assembly which deals with disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the global community.

This year at QMUN’22 the agenda set forth is something that is crucial for delegates and representatives of all countries to deliberate upon. In recent years Taiwan and regions in the South China Sea have been potential hotspots for major military escalation. While the PRC has a major advantage and sovereign claims in these waters, an all-out conflict between the ROC and the PRC would be devastating and would send shockwaves across the globe. Therefore, It is essential for all member nations to formalize regulations and draft presentable resolutions for the UNSC to work upon.
